Are you planning to go for a long hike in 2019 – two weeks or more?
Do you like sharing your stories with others?
Do you love writing about adventure?
All Women All Trails is looking for women who want to write or blog about their hiking experiences. We want to hear about the planning, the prep, the highs, the lows, the struggles, and the triumphs. We want to follow along and cheer you on. We want to celebrate your victories and encourage you when you’re down.
What’s a writer vs a blogger?
Bloggers are planning a long hike and would document their prep and planning, then send in journal-style updates while they’re hiking, throughout their adventure. For example – sending us weekly updates from a Pacific Crest Trail thru-hike.
Writers are going on shorter adventure and writing about them after the fact, or reviewing a piece of gear, or sharing some wisdom from past trips, etc – there’s no one single trip they’re documenting as it happens. Topics and writing style are totally up to you.
What’s the commitment?
We’re happy with as much or as little as you want to write. Contribute one or two articles as a guest writer, or commit to regular updates – every week or two, or whatever you can manage.
What would I write about?
That’s up to you. We welcome straightforward how-to posts, gear lists, and logistics while you’re planning your adventure. If you want to explore the emotional and psychological side, that’s great, too. If you just want to chronicle your hike with journal entry-style blog posts, awesome. Whatever you feel comfortable writing is welcome.
What do I get out of it?
All Women All Trails is a huge community – 50,000 women and counting. We are supportive, encouraging, and empowering, and we’ll send all that good energy with you on your hike.
We’ll be sharing your posts directly into our group and on our own social media channels. You’ll have a bio on each of your posts, and after publishing three articles, you’ll also be featured on our writer’s page. You can include your social media links in your bio if you’d like to publicize them (Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc).
What if I already have my own blog?
That’s fine! You are welcome to write for us while also maintaining your own blog. We just ask that content posted on All Women All Trails is new and original, and that you hold off for 24 hours before cross-posting elsewhere.
Anything I should know about formatting or posting?
We’re pretty flexible, and we want your own style and voice to come through in your writing. We aim for 500-3,000 words, with 3-5 photos (or more!). We try to make it easy for you while you’re on trail – you don’t have to worry about figuring out how to post on the website. Just send it over to our team via email and we’ll do all the technical formatting work and get it online.
How do I apply?
